02.24.11 What's happening.........

First of all.........a special thank you to Michelle Cahal for setting up the blog.  Michelle, you are an angel!!  I'm in awe of your sweet, caring spirit and your amazing talents!!  We love you!

What's happening with Leslie......
As a 32-year-old mother of two beautiful girls (Riley & Avery).....what started out as a routine visit to the OB/GYN thinking she had a problem with perhaps a clogged duct....sent us all reeling in shock and disbelief.  Never had it occurred to any of us that this young mother with a 7 year old and a 7 month old, could possibly have breast cancer.

In that one moment, our lives were changed.  From the OB/GYN......to ETMC for mammogram....... to sonogram.....to surgeon to oncologist.......it all happened so fast!  This week was full with scans and tests and prayers.  Next week we'll travel to Dallas for a second opinion......just to make sure Leslie is getting the best possible care.

We are already experiencing a wonderful, loving outpouring of support from so many people.  Spencer and I wanted to set up this blog to help keep everybody informed as Leslie starts on this journey to beat this cancer.  I must say that I am so proud of my daughter.  She was smiling as she told me how many people have already shared their stories of family and friends that knew who had cancer and beat it!  She said, "Mom, I know they mean well and they are sharing these stories to encourage me and make me feel better.  But, Mom, I honestly haven't been thinking of anything except the fact that I want to get started with the treatments and have the surgery or whatever is needed so I can get finished and get my life back to normal."

Needless to say, this girl knows how to face a challenge head on!

Thank you so much for visiting our blog.  Please feel free to post your comments, lend your support, share pictures, poems, favorite scriptures, whatever touches your heart........Spencer and I will post updates along the way and we will all gain strength from your love and prayers.
